The Pay-It-Forward program will allow us to provide extra support and resources to campaigns aligned with our 2022-2023 community priorities. These priorities include recruiting campaigns connected to the top 3 results of our Local Living Economy Building Blocks poll (affordable housing, farms & food, living wage jobs & equity) and amplifying campaigns led by low-income individuals.
While individuals from low-income households may be rich in social capital, they often times need access to additional resources such as business consultants, videographers, social media marketers and other people who can contribute to the success of their crowdfunding campaign.
We will identify each campaign team’s specific needs through a pre-assessment survey and provide extra resources to fill in the team’s most critical gaps. We will also use our Pay-It-Forward fund to match donations for crowdfunding campaigns aligned with our 2022 community priorities.
According to a survey designed by economist Michael Shuman, only 25% of finance providers in our region feel that promising businesses can easily find capital of $50,000 or less. Furthermore, just 20% of entrepreneurs believe our region makes it easy for individuals to find capital. TLC Monadnock will help shift this metric and boost social entrepreneurs’ access to capital now.
